HNZ is hosting the all-virtual local Hingham Solar and Low Carbon Technologies Open House Tour which begins 9/28 and will be available for online viewing through the month of October.
Given that the open house tours (videos and photo albums by Hingham residents) will be viewable at any time during the coming weeks from one’s home computer, tablet or phone, we are hoping many of our Hingham neighbors will “visit,” learn about these low carbon approaches and be inspired to adopt them in their own lives.
Have you wondered what is involved in having solar panels, heat pumps/mini-splits or an electric vehicle? On this year’s Hingham Solar Tour, you will be able to visit “virtually” Hingham homes that have solar panel installations and other carbon reducing technologies in operation. Your Hingham neighbors will showcase how they are reducing their carbon emissions and tell their stories: why they adopted the technology, how it works for them, and any issues they suggest fellow Hinghamites consider if you too are interested in doing your part to reduce climate changing carbon emissions.
The local Hingham Solar Tour is part of the National Solar Tour, taking place on the web Sept 27th– Oct 4th. Programs will cover topics such as Electric Vehicles, Home Solar, Business Solar, Solar Schools, and Policy/Community Issues. Check out the Schedule. To view any of the offerings,RSVP
The 2020 Hingham Solar Tour is hosted by Hingham Net Zero, Hingham residents concerned about climate change and its impact on our seaside community and working to help our town reduce our carbon footprint. The virtual open houses will be available for viewing at NationalSolarTour.org from 9/28 through the month of October. Also on available to view are several “virtual test drives” of Electric Vehicles by Hingham owners.
