Last night (3/3) the Board of Selectman asked the Town Administrator to create a climate planning task force to move ahead immediately with the project of creating a climate action plan. They considered this a better approach than the warrant article, which proposed getting Town Meeting support for a larger group. Consequently, they voted to recommend that Town Meeting take no action on the Energy Action Committee’s proposed article. The selectmen declared their unanimous support for the project, and said that with resources the town will make available, we will be able to get underway immediately, and that any parts of the plan that need Town Meeting approval will go there next year, more fully fleshed out, and, in their opinion, more likely to garner support.
Tomorrow night (Thursday, March 5th) the article goes to the Advisory Committee – 7:30 pm, Town Hall. It’s the first item on the agenda so they are likely to get to it right away.
